Monthly Memory Verse
Each month DCC has a verse to focus on for memorization. Please join us as we try to remember them throughout the year!
December
John 15:11 - These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, & that your joy may be full.

Verse Explanation:

Christ is where the joy is & when you believe in Him & what He says joy is not only available...It is overflowing!

November
Jude 1:24 - Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away & will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault.

Verse Explanation:

God keeps us & with GREAT JOY brings us into His presence blameless. Is there any better truth or gift that we could receive?

October
Psalm 119:28 - I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word.

Verse Explanation:

Life wears us out, but God's Word & obedience to it gives us strength in our grief & weariness!

September
Micah 6:8 - No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, & this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, & to walk humbly with your God.

Verse Explanation:

God wants us to reflect His character in every way & at all times. One of the ways Christians do that is by doing what He asks, extending mercy to others & by being humble.

August
1 Corinthians 2:9 - But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him”.

Verse Explanation:

The promises of God & all that He promises to do for the Christian...They are incomprehensible to you & I. Nothing that we have seen, heard, experienced or can even dream of can begin to fully explain what God has planned for the believer!

July
Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers & sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, & honorable, & right, & pure, & lovely, & admirable. Think about things that are excellent & worthy of praise.

Verse Explanation:

There is a lot that tries to distract the Christian from the joy & the promises that are theirs in Christ. This verse helps remind us what & where our focus needs to be. Ultimately all these things are fulfilled in Christ.

June
Mark 9:24 The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”

Verse Explanation:

Faith is always required in the Christian's walk from start to finish, but faith isn't always easy. God understands that & meets us where we are in our struggle to believe as we should.

May
Ephesians 5:15-16, 15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

Verse Explanation:

The world, our flesh & our spiritual enemy will provide us with plenty of options to distract us from God's will & God's mission. The Christian needs to be discerning & intentional looking to maximize every moment & opportunity that God allows them to have in an effort to Love Him & love others!

April
Ephesians 6:12 - For we are not fighting against flesh-&-blood enemies, but against evil rulers & authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, & against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Verse Explanation:

You may struggle to get along with "so & so". You may like "such & such" more over others, but your issue is not primarily with the other person...Your brother & sister in humanity...God's fellow image-bearer. Your issue stems from spiritual warfare. Extend grace & focus on the right enemy as you learn to walk in relationships with others.

March
Proverbs 24:10 - If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small.

Verse Explanation:

That your faith will be tested. That standing up for what is right will be unpopular at times. That you will face "persecution" for adhering to biblical truths. If tempted to give in in these situations remember the truth of Ephesians 3:20 & Joshua 1:9 & stand strong!

February
Joshua 1:9 - This is my command, be strong & courageous!  Do not be afraid or discouraged.  For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Verse Explanation:

The Christian needs to fight the temptation to be fearful & timid about God, His mission for us & His commands for us. Because God promises to be with them in every situation, circumstance, location & outcome.

January
Ephesians 3:20  - Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Verse Explanation:

God receives & gets the glory as Christians dream big, pray big & act in faith. The Spirit enables believers to accomplish infinitely more for the Kingdom of God than we could even dream possible.
