June
John 11:35 - Jesus wept.

Verse Explanation:

Jesus cares about you & I. He cares about our hurt, our sorrows, our disappointments, our abuses & everything else that we encounter that is counter His original design for us. He weeps over sin...Over its consequences & its ramifications. But, He does more than mourn w/us when we hurt; He did something to fix all that ails you & I. The Infinite One stepped into time & history & voluntarily laid down His life for us. He conquered sin, Satan & Death. He came to set us free & to give us Him...For eternity. Will you accept His gift through faith?

May
Isaiah 12:12 - "See, God has come to save me. I will trust in Him & not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength & my song; He has given me victory.”

Verse Explanation:

God alone is your hope & my hope. Trusting in Him, His promises, His character & His attributes allows the Christian to encounter hardship, difficulty & disappointment with faith because God Himself is our place of strength & praise. Moreover, we are victorious in the here & now & in the yet to come.

April
Psalm 9:10 - Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for You.

Verse Explanation:

Hope & confidence come from knowing God as He truly is. We can know Him by knowing the names He reveals Himself with. They reveal His character, His attributes & His promises. When we know that & trust in that we can be confident in who He is & what He says.

March
Psalm 51:1 - Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.

Verse Explanation:

Due to God's great love for you & I; He chooses to extend mercy, compassion & forgiveness through Himself. He alone is our hope. He alone is our salvation.

February
1 John 4:7-8 - Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God & knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Verse Explanation:

It is impossible for someone to be a Christian in the way God defines the word & for them not to strive to reflect His "agape" love to others (family, friends, enemies, etc.).

January
1 Corinthians 13:13 – And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Verse Explanation:

The Christian life can be disorientating at times, but if you stay grounded in faith, hope & love; with love being the greatest, the Christian life comes into focus.

December
John 15:11 - These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, & that your joy may be full.

Verse Explanation:

Christ is where the joy is & when you believe in Him & what He says joy is not only available...It is overflowing!

November
Jude 1:24 - Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away & will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault.

Verse Explanation:

God keeps us & with GREAT JOY brings us into His presence blameless. Is there any better truth or gift that we could receive?

October
Psalm 119:28 - I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word.

Verse Explanation:

Life wears us out, but God's Word & obedience to it gives us strength in our grief & weariness!

September
Micah 6:8 - No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, & this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, & to walk humbly with your God.

Verse Explanation:

God wants us to reflect His character in every way & at all times. One of the ways Christians do that is by doing what He asks, extending mercy to others & by being humble.

August
1 Corinthians 2:9 - But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him”.

Verse Explanation:

The promises of God & all that He promises to do for the Christian...They are incomprehensible to you & I. Nothing that we have seen, heard, experienced or can even dream of can begin to fully explain what God has planned for the believer!

July
Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers & sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, & honorable, & right, & pure, & lovely, & admirable. Think about things that are excellent & worthy of praise.

Verse Explanation:

There is a lot that tries to distract the Christian from the joy & the promises that are theirs in Christ. This verse helps remind us what & where our focus needs to be. Ultimately all these things are fulfilled in Christ.
